Adam and Jeremy Say: Sticky Rice Fan Site - Love Letter to Fans or Evil Corporate Ploy?

While skimming over the RVA Magazine website today I discovered that Sticky Rice has a "fan site;" which may raise a few questions for some of you. First if you do not live in or around Richmond you may be asking "Sticky Rice? What?" so the easy answer is that Sticky Rice is a sushi/Asian food/bar place on main street that many Richmonders enjoy. However, that leads me to the next question, the very question I asked, "What is a fan site?" the answer there appears to be a site devoted to some topic of which people are fans... in this case the topic is Sticky Rice, but this is where it gets weired because I think Sticky Rice actually runs this site... so it's not like people who are fans made it; it's like people who are fans can visit it and find out what Sticky Rice thinks (which is not really a bad idea) and more importantly fans can sign up for the Sticky Rice newsletter (call me cynical, but I am betting that is the real purpose of this whole thing.) Even more troubling is that I am guessing some out side of the box thinker was visiting their favorite Hillary Duff fan site (the first "fan site" that pops up when you Google the term is actually for Hillary Duff... creepy) and thought "hey it would be cool if the bar I work at had it's own fan site!" and next thing you know "Sticky Rice Fan Site." Which is all well and good except that fan sites are also usually reserved for celebrities, and are usually created by actual fans... so this begs the question is Sticky Rice so famous in Richmond that it deserves it's own fan site? and if so why don't Sticky Rice's fans create the site? Like I said I can be cynical and I may be way off so don't put too much stock in this... however, if you need proof that something is fishy (pardon the pun) with this Sticky Rice Fan Site just look at this photo from the site:
From the looks on these peoples faces it is obvious that some one is holding them at Sticky Rice against their will... at gun point... while being forced to consume excessive amounts of alcohol... and being deprived of sleep.

  1. it's not a fan site, bud. the fan part of the domain name refers to the restaurant's location, the fan. and the guy in that picture is a bartender at sticky, his name is john. i know blogs are supposed to be used to rant and rave about whatever you want, but you seem to be obsessed with making a big deal about nothing.
