Beasite Boys in Richmond... Head Explodes

The Beasites are headed out on a swing state, Get Out The Vote Tour, and seeing as VA is a swing state this year, Richmond is on the lists of tour stops.

The Beastie Boys will be in town October 28th, with Sheryl Crow (wha?) Jack Johnson, Santogold and Norah Jones in tow. You can read all about it on Billboards Site and you can buy tickets at Ticketmaster... Needless to say we are just a little giddy... this reminds us that the last time the Beasties were scheduled for Richmond MCA broke his collar bone riding his bicycle... and so we missed the Beasties with RATM and BustaRhymes! Well the supporting acts are not as great as that this time, but we will put up with it for the Beasites.

Adam and Jeremy Say: Man Stress, Illness and Work Can Really Get You Down...

We have been bogged down the last couple of days, but here are two notes worth noting... and yes I did that on purpose... and yes I know that makes me a huge dork... and no I don't care... and yes I am only saying that to make myself feel better because inside I really do care.

Another video has surfaced from the Beastie Boys up coming instrumental album "The Mix-Up." Check out the video for Off the Gird and the Rat Cage on stereogum, and get psyched man get psyched. Well don't get too psyched, but get appropriately psyched!

So both WOTB and Tess have alerted me to a little nugget that will blow your mind! Oh yes the Slip is getting a new 1,500 seat club to accommodate larger acts like Less Than Jake, George Thorogood etc. The club is called Toad's Pace and of course it will be opening June 7th with who else... Carbonleaf performing... well I guess you have to start somewhere. Remember when Fighting Gravity was the perennial house band for Richmond?

Adam and Jeremy Say: More Scrubs, More Dad Rock, and Much Much More Jenny Lewis

AOL Streams Free Dad Rock!
It is officially the week of Dad Rock. Check out the free album streams on AOL from Rufus Wainwright, The National and Wilco. Then take a long nap because that sounds like a combination that could wear anyone out!

Linkin Park Rock It Like It's 2001
Linkin Park releases their latest album, Minutes to Midnight, today and Hot Topic's everywhere are mobbed.

Franz Ferdinand, Lilly Allen and Amy Winehouse: Who Are People In My Jacuzzi Last Night Alex.
I can always count on NME to provide quality trash talk about English Bands; Franz Ferdinand is working on a new album due out in 2008! Lily Allen thinks shes fat and apparently does not think to high of Amy Winehouse.

New Rilo Kiley Makes World A Better Place
Under the Black Light, the new album from Adam and Jeremy favorite Rilo Kiley will be released August 20th in the UK... we would definitely fly to England for Jenny Lewis... definitely.

The Hives: New Album, New Tour, Same Old Trash Talk
The Hives are working on a new album, have announced a new tour and talking trash with funny Swedish accents... would we expect anything less?

Don Ho and Daughter Dead
Did you know Don Ho died? Even sadder still his fifty something daughter died just a week later... tragic.

Rick Rubin Sells Out In Columbia
What is Rick Rubin doing in Columbia? Wait... he is not in Columbia he is on Columbia... like the record label... this is not good news... sounds like a sell out to us.

New Tracks From Beastie Boys and Spoon
Click over to Stereogum and listen to new tracks from the Beastie Boys and Spoon or die a painfully slow and awful death.

Smashing Pumpkins Coming To Asheville... Forever!
Ashevilles very own Orange Peel will host a 9 night residency for the newly reformed Smashing Pumpkins from June 23 to July 5... WOOT WOOT!

Ted Leo Likes to Tour
Ted Leo and the assembled Pharmacists have announced yet more tour dates, but the closets they make it to Richmond this go around is Townson Maryland... one hopes that's not to close to Baltimore; you might accidentally catch something.

In Other News...
Scrubs has been renewed for another season (Jeremy just wet himself) and Sawyer is going to be Gambit in X Men 4.

Adam and Jeremy Say: The Week Ends

The Week Ends and so...
It is Friday which means we are drawing to a close a very exciting week... I mean it was Virginia's Historic Garden Week, and TV Turn Off Week (How are you doing with that?) and on a more somber note this was Global Days for Darfur Week, and I hope you got a chance to read the guest post about it from Sarah. As an added bonus we found out that Rosie O'Donnell is quiting the View.
Plus I have this glut of goodies I have picked up over the last three days that I have yet to give you so now I spew them forth for your entertainment....

Beastie Boys
Beastie Boys new album titled "The Mix Up," and it promises to be way more old school punk Beasties than old school hip hop beasties... here are the details.

Spider-Man 3
The entire world seems to be buzzing about Spider-Man 3, and well they should (we could really use some entertainment right?!?) at any rate you can check out the super cool indie loaded sound track featuring music from bands like the Flaming Lips, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snow Patrol, and the Killers, on the soundtrack myspace page.

Kurt Vonnegut Remembered
I think most literary fans are still shocked by the passing of Kurt Vonnegut, so here is a list of quotes from the Onion A.V. Club to fill the void.

Feeling Feist-y
Even though her album does not drop until next week in the states you can hear Feist new album, "The Reminder," on line; the whole thing is on Feist's myspace page right now... this has Popcandy all a flutter.

Adam Says: I Wander

I am certain that I was born to be a wandering man... I love to get lost and roam around different places... ask my wife and you will know that there is no point trying to get me to go one way because I am headed where the wind takes me... I mean I have never been able to stay in a job for more than a year, I have a very active imagination and I have yet to lose my wonder of the world around me. Fortunately the Internet has made it possible for me to wander thousands of miles without ever leaving my seat, and while this is no substitute for finding abandoned buildings in the woods it does provide me the opportunity to find some pretty interesting things. For instance, in the last day I have learned all about Friedrich Nietzsche, found some very exciting information about the Beastie Boys new album and tour, read portions of David Strauss' "Life of Jesus," unearthed a free online copy of "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman, and read an over view of the philosophy connection on my favorite show Lost. I really love Lost. Seriously my wife and I have one TV that she got when she was in middle school and we only dust it off once a week so we can watch Lost on Wednesday nights at 10PM....I never wander Wednesday nights at 10PM.
