Adam and Jeremy Say: No, We Do Not Belong to a Frat

However, last nigh me and the wife were coming home from a productive trip to Target (Detergent and Pop) when Redemption Song popped up on the iPod. Almost instantly our chatting and singing stops as Bob begins. We made it to the house before the song ended, but we could not pull ourselves away so we sat in the driveway silently listening...

Adam and Jeremy Say: The 2008 Music Rundown

Are you excited about the new year? You should be... maybe not excited about the charade that is presidential elections, or the inevitability of a Patriots Championship, but you should be excited about new music from The Kills, Panic at the Disco, R.E.M., Collin Meloy, David Bazan, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Zach de la Rocha, Franz Ferdinand, The Frey, The Killers, N.E.R.D., No Doubt, Oasis, the Raconteurs, The Marz Volta,The Streets, Supergrass, Thrice, U2, The Vines, Weezer, Wolfmother, and of course Guns N Roses (we realize that is the definition of irony.) At any rate you can read all about releases from these and more on this handy dandy web chart... honestly I have not found anything as complete as this anywhere else.

Adam Says: Decemberist Say Heaven Is The End Of War

So I thought it was fitting that after posting a big long deal about Jeremy and my opionions of Heaven I would post the lyrics to a favorite song about heaven by the Decemberist; Sons and Daughters. I really don't know if the song is actually about Heaven, but that is who I interpert it, and my wife can attest that I really get choked up when I hear it, because the thougt of war ending forever is just that moving to me... so at any rate...

When we arrive
Sons & daughters
We'll make our homes on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon now

These currents pull us 'cross the border
Steady your boats
Arms to shoulder
'till tides are pulled
Hold our grounds
Making this cold harbor now home

Take up your arm
Sons and daughters
We will arise from the bunkers
By land, by sea, by dirigible
We'll leave our tracks untraceable now

When we arrive
Sons and daughters
We'll make our lives on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon now
(We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon now)

When we arrive
Sons and daughters
We'll make our homes on the water
We'll build our walls aluminum
(Sons and daughters)
We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon
(We'll make our homes on the water)
We'll make our homes on the water
(When we build our walls of aluminum)
(We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon)

Here all the bombs fade away (x20)

Adam and Jeremy Say: Dylan, Dylan, and yes more Dylan

So Columbia Records (home to Bob Dylan) is really going all out this fall to promote the music of Bob Dylan; The Legend (we are contractually obligated to hype Dylan every chance we get.) To coinside with the release of I'm Not There, the unique Dylan biopic, Columbia will be releasing several albums, digital singles, and DVDs... honestly it is more than we have time to tell you about so check out the run down on Variety's website.

Adam and Jeremy Say: The Legend of Dewey Cox LIVES!

How appropriate that on the weekend that the boys who brought us the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked up are celebrating their latest success, Super Bad, we would post a trailer for their next hit...ugh... movie. Walk Hard is a spoof of music biopics, aka Walk the Line, Ray, I'm Not There (though we are totally stoked about two of those movies.) Whatever check out the trailer.

Adam and Jeremy Say: Regina Spektor On Her Way To Richmond

Regina Spektor is coming to Richmond November 20th at Toad's Place! You bet we are excited. Ever since we heard that enchanting voice on the delightful Soviet Kitsch, her debut album, we were hooked. Honestly who can deny the beauty of "Us," and things only got better when she gave us Begin to Hope, her second album. Tickets for the Regina Spektor show are not available yet, but you can bet we will be checking back regularly... until then enjoy the beauty of "Samson"

Adam Says: Let it SNOW!

So the snow is coming to Richmond... and no "the snow" is not a hot new indie band... its actually supposed to snow here at any moment. Jeremy has already been snowed out in Ashville so let me offer you a grab bag of information sure to warm your snow-y afternoon.

We recently talked about the new Anberlin album "Cities" which drops this month. Well now I am doubly stoked because Anberlin is making a run to the 930 Club Friday the 23rd! You can bet I will be there and you can also bet I will be screaming "OHHHHHH" along when they play their new single "Godspeed," the show is only $14 so you better show up if your are in the DC area... You DON'T want to miss out.

Yesterday we featured a video from one of my new fav's My Brightest Diamond well I just found out that she will be touring with my uber-fav the Decemberist and better still they will be appearing in Norfolk at the Norva on Sunday April 1st! Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10am! (Come on DSL connection don't fail me now!)

For those of you in Richmond VA this Friday evening come out to Broad Street in the evening for Richmond's wonderful art walk, First Fridays, the event features some great artists and a really cool atmoshpere. Kira and I are particularly found of the Ada Gallery on Broad so when you come out make sure you stop by there and see what amazing works they are displaying this month.

One last thing... maybe... You need to visit my favorite photo blog Istoica. these guys do great work and they have let the world know about it every day with their blog. They are based out of Toronto if I am not mistaken, and that has become one of the factors that has led Kira and I to plan our next vacation for that art/culture rich city.

That should be enough to wet your pallet for today... tomorrow more proof that the world is doomed until then check out Jeremy and My discussion on abortion; it is a topic that is important to us and we think you should give it some thought of your own.

The Cold War Isnt over YET

So for a while now I have been hearing the buzz about the Cold War Kids. Like most unsigned buzz bands the Cold War Kids were more myth than legend to most music fans; myself included. But then their record Robbers and Cowards dropped in the fall and instantly they went from buzz darling to critical war fodder. It seems to me that they have had more press on both sides of the "are they really that good" debate than anyone I can think of in recent times. Some critics, like the folks from Pitchfork, couldn't get past the sometimes obvious Christian faith of the band, and therefore lampooned the album as bad Christian music. But other critical giants like Rollingstone and Spin have seen their faith as the back drop that makes their music so rich and rewarding, much like Dylan, Cash, and Sufjan Stevens. Even Internet taste maker stereogum.com has given the Cold War Kids the thumbs up so it is easy to see why I am excited about the band. I was even more excited when I logged onto Relevant today and found out that the Cold War Kids will be playing with another buzz band that I am excited about, the Tokyo Police Club, Right up the road in DC at the legendary 930 Club! When tickets go on sale I will have them Oh yes I will. Check out CMJ and see if the Cold War Kids are coming to your town.
