Adam Says:Muisic that is too cool for you...

Some Guy Named Tom.
So I am on Stereogum today watching this rad video that I will speak about at length in a bit, but first I must tell you about Buffalo Tom! No clue who the band is really, I just heard it on the "gum mix," liked it and thought I should pass it on... no preasure... just one of those things that pops into your head and if someone digs it than great...

New Derek Webb!!!
The latest from Derek Webb drops this week! The Ringing Bell is amazing and you should own it... Jeremy and I can't say enough about Derek Webb, so we will let his music do the talking.

Does Even THIS Surprise Us Ms. Love?

So apparently Courtney Love is still producing music, and apparently she is still a mess! Pitchfork is reporting that Ms. Love will be auctioning of Kurt Cobain's stuff, which shouldn't really suprise us because 1) she needs money for crack 2) she need publicity for her upcoming album and 3) she is pure evil. If it wasn't official before it is now; Courtney Love has reached full Yoko Ono status.

Coachella Coverage Abounds.
More Coachella than you could ever need... thanks AT&T

See Previous...
As Jeremy stated before we love Rage Against the Machine, and so the more reviews we can get from their Coachella performance the better!

News Flash: Bjork is Enigmatic and Beautiful!

Bjork's new album "Volta" hits next week, but you can hear the whole thing online right now thanks to NME; which may be a great idea given the buzz her Coachella performance is creating. Oh and because we are contractually obligated we must mention that Bjork is enigmatic and beautiful... carry on.

Speaking of Music Online... (I do way to many "...'s")

Aol is streaming music this week, but it is all pretty lame. You can hear the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack which actually features three or four great singles from bands like Snowpatrol, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Killers of all people, but don't blow all the cash in your piggy bank for this one... as is the case with almost all soundtracks you could really just go spend four bucks on iTunes to get the singles and skip the rest of the pointless filler... and yes I am lumping the Flaming Lips into that category (sac relig right?)

The Greatest Office Ever!
So if you are under the age of thirty you have no doubt visited www.collegehumor.com before; well it turns out that these folks are actually part of a larger company that's not really important except to say that they have an office that may just be the funnest office of all time... even funner than Dunder Mifflan! here is the video to prove it...

Blender Magazine: Trying to Capitalize on Trends Since 2001.

Holy crap Blender sucks! Just read their 500 top albums since your were born list... that is if you were born after 1979... Mindless populist rubbish... I think thats a series of questions on
Jeopardy! (Yes I realize that the exclamation point was superfluous, but that literally the title of the program "Jeopardy!")

What the Sparhawk is THAT?

Some of you may have heard of the meolodic/plodding pop-band Low; it's another one of those husband and wife things... the husband being Alan Sparhawk (cool name right?) So he is being featured on as a Take Away Show this week, and I think he is great so you should click here now!

Listen to Feist, California Needs Your Help.

Oh goodness Feist has a new album out and last time I checked California was harnessing the release of pent up excitment being released by her multitudes of fans... or something like that. Go to her myspace page and listen to the whole album for yourself, and maybe you can help California advert its energy crisis.

Adam and Jeremy Say: Derek Webb Will Change Your Life and what not.

Derek Webb Likes to Ring Bells
So Tuesday is still very far away, but we need to tell you again how stoked we are about the new Derek Webb disc, "The Ringing Bell." While the disc drops on Tuesday you can still pre-order the special edition disc with the 96 page graphic novel until then for a mere twenty dollars. Head over to www.theringingbell.com and hook it up.

28 Weeks of Awesomeness
So all the movie buzz of late has been focused on Spider-Man 3 which lands next weekend, but the movie Adam and Jeremy are goosed about is "Twenty Eight Weeks Later" which is the sequel to the surprise horror/suspense indie flick "Twenty Eight Days Later." So admittedly we at Adam and Jeremy are not normally zombie movie fans, but 28 days later was sooo good that we put our bias aside and gave it our support... and thus we do again for "28 Weeks Later," just go ahead and pencil this in as another Adam and Jeremy HIT! But if you must see it to believe it, here is the super rad trailer.

Adam and Jeremy Summer Reading List
Finally Adam and Jeremy Have released their summer reading list! Check it out.

Adam and Jeremy say: Elton John and Kings of Leon Ring My Bell

Of all the new albums that AOL is streaming this week it is not Chevelle or The Academy Is... that have caught the ears of Adam and Jeremy, but Elton John! Go figure a greatest hits album by the queen of Adult Pop hits has way more songs that Adam and Jeremy know by heart than they would like to admit, but those standards easily surpass disappointing efforts by Chevelle and The Academy Is...

However, if you are a fan of Tool and the rest of the "Modern Rock Radio" rubbish that pervades sports video games these days then Chevelle still may be something you are into, and so we provide you a link. Adam and Jeremy are both disappointed that a band that once was so uncomercial and so edgy has now become shill for corporate rock... disillusioned is the word Adam used to describe his feelings.... by the way Adam and Jeremy never expected anything out The Academy Is... so they could care less that the album is total bomb.

On a brighter note the Kings of Leon have also released a new album "Because of the Times." The jam-y southern garage rock has earned the ire of some critics, who are still comparing them to "the Strokes of the south" and are not stoked about the less than structured layout of their latest. Adam and Jeremy say the music is as hot as a Nashville summer and you should check it out!

Play Kings of Leons On Call

Oddly enough, Adam and Jeremy didn't even know that Derek Webb had another new album coming out till last week, and after finding out yesterday that the album is being accompanied by a graphic novel(authored by D. Webb), they couldn't not contain their excitement. This is why you are seeing a post on it now instead of the normal Tuesday time slot here on the Adam and Jeremy Show... I mean Adam and Jeremy Blog.

The Ringing Bell hits music stores and ITunes May one. If you're like Adam and Jeremy you probably wont wait to pre-order the album and book.

Swing on over to the Ringing Bell website and you can listen to some full length tracks(which are totally rockin). They remind me of little Sufan Stevens or Ryan Adams. An interesting path that Webb has only touched on in his previous "folky" albums. Also on the website you can preview some of the book, so make sure you check it out now!

And....in your spare time, read the article in USA today about Webb!

Whilst sipping tea the Parasol Party today we happened to meander onto Relevants' website and low and behold there was a new review of Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible" URGH! We love Relevant Media and we love to plug them, but honestly this took far too long. The album was great and that's why we told you so... two weeks ago... at any rate go and check out the review... plus there is some other good stuff in there about other music that has biblical themes.

By now you have all hear about Keith Richards snorting his father... like a line of coke... and the denial/spin that has ensued... here is a great take on it from stereogum.com

Adam Says: A Weekend of Highs and Midtones, but Really No Lows.

You should be jealous, because this Sunday at 2030 (830PM) I will be in Norfolk VA with my beautiful wife listening to the Mythical of voice of Colin Meloy as he and the rest of the Decemberist me with stories of murder, mystery, love and intrigue. Oh yes the day has fianlly come not only do I get to see Adam and Jeremy favs the Decemberist, and as an added bonus I get to see a personal favorite, My Brightest Diamond open the show. Man I feel blessed.

Unfortunately this feeling of excitement and blessing is tempered by my schedule for Saturday night. If you live in Richmond you know that the largest French film festival outside of France is VCU's French Film Festival, which happens to be going on this weekend at the Byrd Theater in Carytown. Normally I would be kind of excited, and since it is my wife's birthday she and I will be doing it by going to Can Can before catching one of the French Films on Saturday night... the only problem is this film will be showing at midnight! Heaven help me, I have not yet mastered my appreciation for foreign film and at such a late hour my ability to stay coherent for the duration is seriously in doubt, but dreams of the Decemberist will pull me through I am certain.

One last note. Certified Adam and Jeremy favorite Derek Webb is featured in article this week on USA Today. It talks about his Faith and his politics, so you know we here at Adam and Jeremy are excited about it and we strongly suggest you check it, and Derek Webb, out.

Adam and Jeremy Say: Iraq! War! Urgh! Part 3 (The End)

Adam: Dude let me take this in another direction; over the weekend I was reading Mathew 5,6 and 7; Jesus' Sermon on the Mount; and I hit the part about loving your enemies and I suddenly wanted to feel all vindicated... like "that's right we need to love not fight," but then I was given some revelation this morning... we should love our enemies and leave the war stuff the governments.... As Christians we should reach out to those who have been hurt by war, or for that matter bad men like Saddam Hussein. The world is a fallen place and because of that we all have to suffer and to say that we can fix that suffering by causing more suffering is crazy... peace by way of war... you're the Derek Webb fan you know what I am saying there... but I think its interesting how Jesus didn't view the world through a political lens, sure he took on religious leadership but the government he viewed as an institution placed there by God and so he gave it the respect it was due "Give unto Creaser what is Creasers." So I think maybe Christians are looking at this in the wrong way... In Mathew 5 when Jesus speaks about the attributes he wants in his followers he does not say he wants people who strive for justice and equality, he says he wants people who are meek and who want righteousness and peace, he wants people who are willing to suffer and sacrifice in His Name; and I think we lose that when we get wrapped up in government and military affairs... People in Iraq are dieing... at least 75 more were killed in a bomb attack the other day... soldiers from all sides are giving there lives so that there can be peace and I admire that but it doesn't mean I need to support the cause of death... instead I support the cause of Christ... I support those who support the wounded, I support those who support the hungry, I support those who support the homeless, the widowed, sad, broken, and lost. There is an entire country there that has known nothing but pain and suffering for a very long time and I don't think the best way to help them is to send in the army... though sending in the army has made it possible for us to send in the Word of God... we need people who are willing to bare the Cross of Christ to "lay down their lives" for the Iraqi people and I am not saying just going there to give out Bibles or preach the Gospel... I am talking about feeding the hungry, healing the sick, rebuilding schools and hospitals, taking care of the widowed and the fatherless... there is a world there that has known only hate from their leaders and from their religion it is time Christians stood up and showed them what love truly looks like... and maybe it wont do any good... maybe people will try to kill us, maybe people will try to stop us, maybe they will destroy the buildings and burn the food, and kill the women and children, but we are to expect that... Christ told us that would happen, but maybe it is time that Christians, and specifically American Christians, to follow Christ's example and forgo this world with the glory of the next one in mind.

Jeremy: I agree. This goes back to when I use to rant about how Christians shouldn't be a part of the military. Because how on earth could you love your enemy if all you do is train to one day kill them....and then killing them? That doesn't sound anything like love to me. But then I had a long thought out conversation with my fellow brother in Christ who is a US marine (also, an author and strong theologian). He explained it like, how can we love our neighbor if we are willfully ignorant to the fact that evil men (our enemies) are killing people in our own backyard while we are out "loving our enemies"? I think in situations like that, it comes down to choosing the greater love. and no, I don't think we can just sit back and say God is sovereign and will protect who he wants to protect, etc. he made us beings of action, and I think, sometimes the right action is defending the weak against evil men. I think going to Iraq and Afghanistan to love on those people is an awesome idea. Jesus commands us to reach out to the poor and oppressed.
That reminds me of this.....
We usually think of international missions as sending people into the African bush or jungles of South America. however, the facts show that you can travel miles into the jungles of brazil down a remote river and find people doing bible studies in a straw hut, but you can also walk down the streets in the capital of Afghanistan and talk to people who have never hear the name of Jesus. (This comes from a first hand account of the pastor at Rivers Edge church in Lynchburg, VA)

Adam: I am still not seeing it man, but that's okay we don't have to agree on everything, at least we agree on the important issue of loving people. Your comment of about Brazil there brings up an interesting side note... our church has been housing a missionary couple that is leaving this week to go to Brazil... but not go into the jungle but instead is going to one of its metropolitan areas to minister to business men there... because the area is internationally mixed they will dealing with people on their common ground... business... I think that was such an awesome way to reach a community.
